The keyboard stops working when windows boots.?

When it starts up, the keyboard and mouse work, but as soon as the loading bar for Vista shows, they just stop. I rapidly press caps lock and the light stays on/off at that moment. I tried safe mode, and it did the same thing, stopping after crcdisk.sys. I've looked and that could mean anything. In device manager it says code 19, registry error, so I uninstalled them, but on restart they're right back like before. (built in laptop kb/mouse) I'm using a usb mouse now, and it works fine.
