94 Thunderbird, run's rough when pressing the gas and has popping sounds from under the hood..?

Ran it with a diagnostic tester and it read that "EGR is out of range" im not sure what that mean's but i checked the egr and saw that one of the tubes on it was cracked so i got another rubber tube and put it on and the car ran better for a few hours then started running bad again it studders while pressing the gas and make's a popping sound sometime's.. Any idea? do i need a new EGR valve? please help me out thanks..
